A Public Symposium at Emory University on October 23 and 24, 2008.

The symposium will explore the future of evolution as a theory and a process and the potential of recent research to transform our lives. The public event is designed to be accessible to a wide audience.

Keynote address by E.O. Wilson on “Darwin and the Future of Biology,” October 23, 7 PM

On Friday, October 24, New York Times Columnist, Olivia Judson, will speak on communicating research in the life sciences to a wide audience in a talk entitled, “The Art of Seduction” Leading Emory and Georgia Tech scientists will explore such issues as how our evolutionary inheritance affects our emotions, values, and mental make-up; how the interaction between genes and environment affects our health; and how research into the origins of life is providing us with new knowledge and tools to engineer evolutionary processes with enormous.
