| Event Name: Launch Conference Event Date(s): October 18 -21, 2008 Event Location: Georgian Terrace Hotel in Midtown, Atlanta Georgia Tech has made the decision to create a new Integrative BioSystems Institute (IBSI). This decision was announced internally on February 1, 2008. In order to inform the scientific community at large about the strategically important investment in integrative biology, IBSI will organize and host an international launch conference on October 18-21, 2008. This conference will highlight a spectrum of facets of integrative biology and present innovative approaches toward a better understanding of the multi-scale, complex organization of biological systems. | Event Name: Launch of the Integrative BioSystems Institute Event Date(s): February 1, 2008 Event Location: GTAC Auditorium, 250 14th Street, NW, Room 139, Atlanta, GA 30318 The event featured the Distinguished Professor Douglas Lauffenburger, MIT Dr. Lauffenburger’s research interests fall into three areas, namely cell signaling and regulatory networks, cell/substratum adhesion/signaling and migration, and the design of biomolecular therapeutics. His large research group addresses these areas with a combination of experimental studies, methods development, and mathematical modeling of systems dynamics.
